What is ABA?
Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is an evidence-based practice that uncovers the relationships between behavior and the environment. Techniques in ABA therapy help develop social skills, effective communication, life skills, and reduce maladaptive behavior. At ARC, we take pride in our lasting connections with families, aiming to increase independence and improve overall quality of life.
What is ABA Therapy?
Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is an individualized, comprehensive therapy. During ABA, caregivers and clients collaborate with the therapy team to identify goals that are important to them. The team works across all aspects of the client’s life to achieve these goals and enhance their natural abilities. Direct therapy sessions and caregiver trainings are provided in both home and community settings to ensure that the skills gained are long-lasting across environments.
ABA Delivery Style
At ARC, we take the time to listen to the needs of our families. We will create our goals based on interviewing all stakeholders relevant with knowledge of the client, observing behavior in all relevant environments, and conducting a formalized skills and behavior assessment. Following a comprehensive assessment, we will review treatment goals with the family and begin ABA services. The number of ABA hours will be prescribed by a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) based on individual needs. ABA therapy will be delivered by a Registered Behavior Technician in a 1:1 format and supervised by a BCBA with ongoing caregiver training.
